MacFarlane Memorial Church

Macfarlane Memorial Church, one of Kalimpong's most iconic landmarks, stands as a testament to the town's colonial heritage and spiritual legacy. Located in the heart of Kalimpong, the church was established in 1891 by Scottish missionaries and named after Rev. William Macfarlane, a pioneering missionary who played a key role in spreading Christianity and education in the region.

Built in traditional Gothic architecture, the church features arched windows, stone masonry, and a tall steeple that still dominates the skyline. It served as the primary center for the Church of Scotland mission and was instrumental in shaping the town’s early educational and religious institutions.

Today, the Macfarlane Memorial Church remains active and open to visitors, offering a peaceful space for prayer and reflection. It stands not only as a place of worship but also as a symbol of Kalimpong’s multicultural past, blending Western architecture with local influence.
