Chapramari Wildlife Sanctuary

Nestled in the pristine forests of West Bengal, the Chapramari Wildlife Sanctuary is a hidden gem showcasing India’s incredible biodiversity, located near the famous Gorumara National Park. Spanning 9.6 square kilometers, this sanctuary may be small but is rich in wildlife, named after the abundant Chapra fish in its water bodies. The lush tropical forests, dominated by Sal, Teak, and Bamboo, provide a habitat for Indian elephants, leopards, gaurs (Indian bison), deer, and wild boars, while birdwatchers can spot species like the Great Indian Hornbill, Scarlet Minivet, and Oriental Pied Hornbill. Unlike the more crowded Gorumara, Chapramari offers a serene wilderness experience with frequent elephant sightings, jeep safaris, and nature trails, making it a perfect escape for wildlife enthusiasts and nature lovers.
