Gorubathan Celebrates Unique " Di Hala Bhauju Haat "

The "Di Hala Bhauju Haat" festival commenced at Thakurbari Temple, transforming into a vibrant procession that wound its way through Sombarey Bazar. The festive procession drew participation from locals of all walks of life and various regional organizations, with notable contributions from Maruni Groups from Gairigaon, Sombarey Bazar, and Mayalu Busty. Accompanied by traditional Damphure players, the procession showcased an array of songs and dances as it toured Sombarey Bazar.

Di Hala Bhauju Haat is a unique festival in Gorubathan, steeped in rich traditional history passed down through oral narratives. According to local tradition, Gorubathan was once known as a "place of widows," where women, mostly widows, would set up stalls at the Haat on Mondays, leading to its nomenclature as "Bhauju Haat," which later evolved into Di Hala Bhauju Haat.

Preparations for the festival begin with Laxmi Puja, during which Maruni Groups pray and prepare for the celebrations. The festival is observed on the second Monday after Laxmi Puja and concludes with prayers at Thakurbari Mandir.
