Reshi

About Reshi

Reshi is a small mountain river that separates Kalimpong and Sikkim, situated 37 kilometers from Kalipong Town. Reshi as a tourist destination came into prominence after 2009, when the Sikkim government opened the Reshi border check post for entry of tourists visiting places like Zuluk, Kupup, Gnathang Valley, War Memorial, Old Baba Mandir so on so forth in East Sikkim.
The most enchanting fact about the Reshi river is that, it flows Northward from its point of origin in the foothills of Kolakham/Rishap upto Rangpo, and then after, flows South after it meets the mighty Teesta. This feature makes it not only unique but many locals believe that it has supernatural powers to heal and help.
Reshi in fact is the first river destination in Kalimpong district.
Best time to visit Reshi is from late September to early June. Monsoons are risky, so the home stays don’t take in guests during monsoon season from June 15th to September every year. Summer is also quite hot but guests love to take long healing dips in the Reshi river during that time.
