About Todey
Perched at the border of Bhutan, Todey and Tangta are the last inhabited villages of the Kalimpong district—remote, serene, and deeply rooted in culture. This borderland retreat offers a rare glimpse into the seamless blend of Bhutanese and Indian traditions, shaped by centuries of cross-cultural connection.
The villages are home to vibrant communities of Rai, Bhutia, Tamang, and Lepcha people, each adding their own flavor to the rich cultural mosaic. From traditional homes to local cuisines and customs, Todey-Tangta is a living heritage of the eastern Himalayas.
On clear days, the landscape opens up to breathtaking views of Bhutan and the Himalayan ranges, offering sights that are nothing short of spectacular. The region is also a gateway to the Neora Valley National Park, one of India's richest biodiversity zones. Adventurers can embark on treks through dense forests, discover hidden waterfalls and pristine lakes, and experience untouched nature at its best.
Once a bustling hub for cardamom cultivation, Todey-Tangta still retains its lush cardamom gardens, which add to the area’s scenic charm and fragrance.
Whether you're a culture seeker, a nature lover, or an offbeat traveler, Todey-Tangta welcomes you with raw beauty and quiet magic.
