About Munsong

Perched at an altitude of Approx. 5,000 ft, Munsong  is a quaint little village located about 20 km from Kalimpong. This picturesque hamlet is best known as the headquarters of the historic Cinchona Plantation, once central to the production of quinine in colonial India.

With its panoramic views of the Sikkim hills, the snow-capped Kanchenjunga range, and a sweeping vista of the Teesta River, Munsong offers a tranquil escape amidst unspoiled natural beauty.

Getting There
Munsong is approximately 95 km from NJP Railway Station, and can be reached via two main routes:

1. Via Rangpo (Faster Route)

Before crossing the Bengal-Sikkim river bridge at Rangpo, take a sharp uphill road on the left.
The road winds through lush forests and tiny villages, and in just about 30 minutes, you’ll reach Munsong.
This route is faster and avoids traffic in Kalimpong town.

2.Via Kalimpong (Scenic Route)

Drive past Deolo Hill, then head towards Icche Gaon via Bhalu Marg.
A few kilometers downhill beyond Icche Gaon, the same road leads to Munsong.
This route is more scenic, perfect for those who enjoy hill drives and panoramic views.
